“Do you even wanna compete?” Chris Broussard calls out Kevin Durant after he reportedly raises insane demand to play for Miami Heat
Chris Broussard and Kevin Durant
From The initial days of Kevin Durant’s trade request, many speculations having been floating around the league surrounding different destinations. As per ESPN Reports, the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns were the top priorities on Kevin Durant’s wish list. Both teams topped their respective conferences last season, and also made to NBA finals in recent years. But lost in the finals and could use Kevin Durant to clear that last step. Fans continue to anticipate the possibility of the Brooklyn Nets forward leaving for either franchise, with both teams having a host of talent at their disposal, and to land a player of KD’s caliber, they might need to let go one or two superstars with the trade package.
But new reports are complicating the trade for the Nets. As per Sam Amick of The Athletic, Durant has revealed that he would consider the Heat if the big three remain on the roster. This “unusual demand” makes it difficult for the Heat as they will need to trade an All-Star player, as requested by the Nets. Amick said, “As for the Miami possibility that also seems to be in play, I’m told there’s a significant obstacle on that front,”
“Durant, it seems, would only want to play on a Heat team that includes Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Kyle Lowry. So even if the Heat were willing to move Butler in a deal as a way of satisfying the Nets’ (understandably pricey) request, doing so would leave Durant discontented from the start.” The condition might suit Miami Heat perfectly, as they could land 2-time NBA final MVP keeping their core intact, but will that package be acceptable to the Nets? And importantly, will that package be a “fair deal” for Brooklyn – who is already facing going back to the mid-table team situation?
Chris Broussard makes a bold claim regarding demands from Kevin Durant
Sports analyst Chris Broussard reacted to the new requirements as allegedly given by Durant. He labeled it as ridiculous, questioning if the twelve-time All-Star wants to compete. On his radio show; Broussard said, “The latest Bleacher Report is saying that Kevin Durant only wants to go to Miami if Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Kyle Lowry are still on the roster. Well okay, I mean this is getting ridiculous. Do you want to compete? I think he’s confused in trades and free agency.”
Even if Miami would add 3rd or 4th team in the mix, there are very less chances of getting the trade through without either of the stars moving away from the southeast beach. And KD is making “requests” as if he has 100% control over the trade, sadly that is not true. Kevin is still under a 4-years contract with the Nets, which gives the Nets full right to accept/reject any trades for their “want-away” prized asset.
Frankly, the Nets lost their 3 seasons, hoping for the Superteam to click in the right way, and now when they are moving away from it, the team would want maximum or at least profitable returns for their assets. The Nets might even lose Kyrie Irving, in a few days following KD’s departure, and he has just 1 year left on his contract with the Nets.
Is Kevin Durant secretly pushing for Phoenix Suns trade?
Kevin Durant spent an ample amount of time in the league to understand its working. He is an elite star that everyone would love to have on their roster, so the 4-time scoring champion knows his value in the market very well – despite his poor show in the last playoffs.
Still, if reports are true, he is making very irrational requests to move to Miami, which could indicate only one thing – Slim Reaper wants to move to Suns. Western Conference’s top seed had the best record in the league last season, and adding Kevin Durant to Chris Paul and Devin Booker is definitely not the type of carnage other franchises would love.
KD could also reunite with his former assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Monty Williams. Williams is now the head coach of the Phoenix Suns, both parties are said to share a close relationship, and won the Coach of the Season award last season. Suns Have Deandre Ayton as their biggest trade chip and could add some role players to sweeten the trade.
Can we see KD competing in West again?
