Chris Broussard couldn’t understand the omission of Philadelphia 76ers marquee scorer, Joel Embiid from the All-NBA-First-Team and takes a dig at the league for neglecting him and his performances.

All NBA individual awards were declared with respective voting processes wherein Nikola Jokic edged Embiid for the regular season MVP. Now all NBA teams were announced, right before Game-4 of the Western Conference Finals, League released the decorated players of this season and as per the norms selected the top 3 players, position-wise to form 3 different All NBA teams. Sports media personality, Chris Broussard was angry with Embiid’s Omission from 1st team and found it hard to believe.

Luka Doncic, Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Nikola Jokic found their place in the All-NBA-Team for 2022. While Broussard rooting for Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid was not satisfied with selection in 2nd team. Chris advocated for the dual role Embiid plays in his team and claimed that could have been selected as the power forward player of the first team.

As per the selection process, the league put forward all the top players – position-wise, and depending on their performances and voting the teams are selected. So it would be for the point guard position, all point guards in the league will fight for the 1st team selection, and similarly for all the playing positions.

Joel Embiid faces tough competition playing Center , where reigning 2-time MVP Nikola Jokic always gets 1st selection ahead of him, with his all-around performances for the Denver Nuggets. But this season, Embiid was slotted in the forward position too where, as per Broussard, he could have replaced Jayson Tatum – against whom Joel had most votes & points,  and made it in the 1st team with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

On the first-things-first TV show, Broussard supported Joel’s chances for 1st team selection. He said, “Yes, I have a gripe — that Joel Embiid, who was by everyone’s estimation one of the 3 best players in the league this year, did not make All-NBA First-Team. It’s ridiculous. This is second time for 2nd straight year that Embiid is 2nd in MVP ballet, but 2nd team all NBA. Embiid deserves better than this.”

The NBA analyst was disappointed with the team selections and offered a simple solution for the All-NBA voting. Broussard wants the league to change the system, so voters can pick two backcourt and three frontcourt players, just like in the All-Star Game.

As per Chris, this system would help voters to vote for two centers for All-NBA First Team and deserved candidates will get 1st team selection. Looking at the talent pool in the Center position, Broussard may be right.
