“I’m not just trying to get money and leave you hanging” Chris Broussard highlights how LeBron James has always played out his contracts
Chris Broussard and LeBron James
While LeBron James has been often criticized for changing his teams during his 19-year stint in the NBA, sports media personality, Chris Broussard highlights how the 37-year-old has never left any team midway and has always completed his contracts before moving to a new destination.
Interestingly, while LeBron James has been involved in 3-offseason moves (Cleveland to Miami and vice versa, Cleveland to Los Angeles), he has always left during free agency and has never quit on his team midway. From detailing upon how he and Rob Parker would undress Draymond Green in a verbal banter, Broussard went onto highlight the qualities of LeBron James.
LeBron James praised by NBA Analyst
Chris said on the latest episode off The Odd Couple, “People like to put all this at the feet of LeBron James. Yeah, he did start player empowerment but Rob, you gotta admit this. Lebron has always played out a contract, never demanded a trade, or asked for a trade when he’s still under contract.
“And when LeBron James wanted flexibility, what did he do? One-year deal. ‘I’m not playing no games. I’m not just trying to get money and then leave you hanging.’ One year deal so you know, and I know that you know you got me for one year, and we will re-evaluate after that.”
He concluded, “We’re not gonna praise Kevin Durant for taking the money from Brooklyn, and then before the extension even starts, you’re out of there, or you wanna be. C’mon. Sign a one-year deal. If you’re not sure, sign a one-year deal.”
While LeBron James has never left midway, Kevin Durant signed an extension with the Brooklyn Nets in 2021 and has already requested a trade out of the team before the start of the next season. To think about the same, could this be the last year when we witness LeBron dawning the purple and gold jersey as this would be the last season as per the current contract of the King. However, it all depends on how the LA Lakers are able to play in the 2022-23 season? What drama awaits…remains to be seen.
