“Let’s run it back and bring a title to Brooklyn!” Chris Broussard hilariously contemplates what Kevin Durant and Joe Tsai would discuss in their meeting
Chris Broussard discusses points to be mentioned in the meeting between Kevin Durant and Joe Tsai
Kevin Durant requested a trade away from the franchise and it was made public on 30th June 2022. After nearly 40 days of rumors game and some trade attempts, KD and Nets’ Owner Joe Tsai decided to have a meeting, to discuss the future going ahead. The Kevin Durant trade saga dominated the headlines nearly every day. Considering that the Nets haven’t found a suitor fulfilling their demands for the megastar, it seems quite likely that Durant will stay back in Brooklyn next season. There was a lot to address in the meet, and Fox Sports analyst Chris Broussard speculates on what Durant might have discussed with the Nets owner.
Making some bold and hilarious predictions about the nature of the meeting between the two Chris Broussard gave some input to the conversation as Durant and said, “He should walk in there and say, ‘Joe, remember that text I sent you several weeks ago requesting a trade? Forget about it! I’m back!”
Chris Broussard expects Kevin Durant to stay with Brooklyn Nets.
Kevin Durant played 90 games in 2 active seasons with the Nets, and for 1st season he was nursing a season-ending Achilles injury. Still, Brooklyn Nets extended his contract to the max, trusting their megastar going ahead. Despite KD being 33, his game showed no effect of aging. Considering bright with the 2-time NBA Champion, the Nets were planning to build a championship roster ‘yet again’ when they agreed to a 4-year contract for him.
So KD’s trade request came as surprise to many. Though the team didn’t deliver the results they were expected, KD was phenomenal for them throughout his court time. The Nets won just 1 playoff series in 3 seasons, now with some new faces at the franchise Nets can make a push for the title again, provided that Durant stays with them.
Reminding KD of the trust the Nets put on him, 53-year-old Broussard, putting himself at Durant’s place said, “I’m back Joe, because you believe, say that all right, you gave me a max contract when I was gonna miss the first full season of that max deal with an Achilles injury. Then you gave me a max extension when I only played 90 games over the last two years, because you believed and you know what Joe you know what these last several weeks have told me, these other teams don’t believe, they don’t believe like you do Joe.”
Then again very dramatically mimicking KD, Broussard assured Nets Owner what he would do for the franchise in return, “‘Joe! I am rocking with the Nets this year! I got a locked in Kyrie Irving on one side. I got a ‘chip on his shoulder’ Ben Simmons on the other side. I got the bubble-baller TJ Warren coming off the bench. I got the Australian assassin Patty Mills got my back. Joe, let’s run it back and bring a title to Brooklyn!’ That’s what he should say.”
Broussard painted a rather impressive picture with his acting and drama. The Nets have made some impressive additions to their roster in the offseason; potentially enough to compete for the title should Durant stay.
Earlier this month, Celtics emerged as favorites to land their main nemesis in the Nets franchise. A potential deal involving Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and picks for Durant seemed like a solid package to acquire the star. Unfortunately, these negotiations have also arrived at a stalemate as Brooklyn’s demands dissuaded Boston from pursuing the star further.
It is assumed that with his trade value being significantly blown up by the Nets, teams have shown a distinct lack of interest in the superstar. The Nets seem to be in no rush to make a deal for Durant. And now that the avenues for trade are also reduced, the pressure to play falls upon the superstar himself.
