“There’s a fine line between self-assured confidence and overly cocky and arrogant” Chris Broussard insults ‘Ice’ Trae Young after failing to deliver vs Heat

Chris Broussard and Trae Young

Recently Sports analyst Chris Broussard fired some truth bombs on Atlanta Hawks star guard Trae Young where he explained why it was necessary for all-star to understand the defeat when his team got edged out by 97-94 on Tuesday night.

It was embarrassing for the Hawks to lose the round one of the postseasons as they were an eastern conference finalist last season where they achieved a lot by defeating the New York Knicks in the first round and top seed the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round but lost eastern finals series to Milwaukee Bucks’. So, it was expected that they will surely go for a deep playoff run under the leadership of their All-star guard Trae Young who is often considered overrated in the NBA.

But the things didn’t go the way the Hawks planned as they struggled every game where Young was absent and even the journey to the postseason was very rough as they were the eighth seed in the east, they qualified for the play-in and made their way to round one by defeating Hornets and Cavaliers. In round one they faced the Miami Heat who was defensively prepared to show the mirror to the Hawks who were led by Trae Young.

Here’s what Chris Broussard explained on the recent episode of ESPN’s “First Things First” after the Hawks failed to enter the Semi-finals of the east. He said:

“This is good for Trae. He needed this. He was riding a high — came into New York and played the Reggie Miller card. There’s a fine line between self-assured confidence and overly cocky and arrogant. This will bring him back to earth and make him work harder.”

Broussard tried to explain that the Hawks’ recent loss to the Miami Heat will make star guard Young more understandable, and humble and it will also help him to ignite the fire beneath him which will give him the motivation to perform best in the upcoming season. In this five-game series against the Miami Heat, Trae Young averaged 15.4 PPG, 6 APG, and 6 turnovers per game and he was 31.9% successful from the field and made only 18.4% shots from behind the arc.

Whereas when we compare his performance from last season’s playoffs, the Hawks guard averaged 28.8 PPG and 9.5 APG in the 16 games of the postseason. The numbers clearly show how dominant the Heat defense was on Young that’s why Chris Broussard argued that Trae Young will become more mature after this series.
