“It wouldn’t happen” Chris Broussard reveals LeBron James’ true feelings on potential swap trade with Kevin Durant

LeBron James and Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving’s desire to leave to Brooklyn Nets has been making the headline right from their 1st round exit from the 2022 season. According to multiple reports, LeBron James really likes the idea of reuniting with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Kyrie Irving. Kyrie has opted in with the Nets for the 2023 season, but he remains in the market, as the franchise is looking to move from the guard following his recent attitude towards the game. The Los Angeles Lakers have been working behind the scenes to try and make a trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets happen but at this point, nothing has come to fruition. So there won’t be LBJ and Kyrie reunions?

But a new theory suggests that it is quite possible still. If a LeBron-Kyrie reunion in Hollywood can’t happen, then perhaps they can join forces in Brooklyn. So if the guards can’t be moved then teams would swap their star forwards. This is a sensational trade scenario that has recently come up, with the possibility of the Lakers trading LeBron to the Nets in exchange for Kevin Durant, who also expressed a desire to leave the Nets.

NBA insider Chris Broussard has addressed these rumors, and according to the analyst, he has spoken to someone from LeBron’s camp about this same possibility. So from the inside intel, at this point, it appears that James does not want to leave the Lakers while working on the project at hand.

“No, because I talked to somebody close to LeBron, and LeBron would not want this to happen,” Broussard said, via UNDISPUTED on Twitter. “And I think the Lakers respect him enough that they’ll do what he wants to do. If he doesn’t want to be traded, I don’t think they’ll trade him. Obviously, he wants to win a championship, but he’s not desperate to the point where he’s gonna uproot his family in a place where he’s happy to go somewhere where he doesn’t want to be.”

LeBron James is a proven star, who won 4 NBA titles and was named Finals MVP in each of those series. Interestingly he has delivered at least 1 title for the franchises he played for. So Brooklyn Nets wouldn’t mind winning their 1st ever NBA trophy with the King. But, what about LeBron and the Lakers?

Broussard talked about how — improbable as it may seem — this deal would actually make a lot of sense for all parties involved. LeBron gets his wish to reunite with Kyrie while also linking up with his protege in Ben Simmons. Durant’s desire to be traded will also be fulfilled, and he would then become the face of the Lakers franchise for many years to come. Moreover, Broussard believes that both the Lakers and the Nets would be in a better position to compete for a title if this trade actually went down.

As Broussard said, however, LeBron doesn’t want it. This only means that it won’t happen. LeBron would have a healthy and younger partner in Anthony Davis at the Lakers, while he will be hoping to turn the Westbrook situation around and finally deliver the Championship promised post-Westbrook deal.
