“KD doesn’t want to play with Kyrie….wants Warriors” Chris Broussard sensationally confirms Kevin Durant’s desire of reuniting with Stephen Curry and Co.
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry in 2018
Even after making the trade request public, Kevin Durant is still on the Brooklyn Nets’ books and seems a bit difficult to move. People might be wondering how such a talented star is still on market after 15 days of making him available. But it is his “talent” that allowed the Nets to ask for a steep price for their asset, and that is what stopped 28-other teams in the league to make a move. Well, just 1 team left other than the Brooklyn Nets, who can make a strong case for landing KD; and that’s Golden State Warriors. Warriors franchise player Stephen Curry and new addition Kevin Durant were one of the best star duos of the 2010s, and they made it to every NBA finals and even won two championships in 3 seasons played together.
Kevin Durant has notably requested a trade, and even though the Warriors were not on his “preferred” destinations, one of the teams that he has been connected to is the Golden State Warriors. While it was reported that Stephen Curry has reportedly contacted Kevin Durant several times for a possible reunion, the news is not confirmed by either of the players.
Fox Sports reporter, Ric Bucher updated that Steph Curry has reached out to KD several times about a reunion: “A league source says Curry has reached out several times to Durant, eager to improve his chances of winning a fifth championship and surpassing LeBron James.”
Golden State Warriors holds all the cards for Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry reunion
Kevin Durant left the GSW project to create his superteam and win championships on his own. So, some people have suggested that Kevin Durant wouldn’t want to return to the Golden State Warriors because he wants to build his own legacy without Stephen Curry. But sports analyst Chris Broussard argues against that. He shared that an NBA source told him that Kevin Durant wants to play with Stephen Curry on the Warriors.
On the First Things First show, Chris said, “Golden State can offer Brooklyn a very strong package — better than most teams — for Kevin Durant. … A good source texted me that Kevin Durant doesn’t want to play with Kyrie, and he wants to go to Golden State… It’s hard to believe. I haven’t confirmed it with Kevin Durant or his agent. I am leaning strongly leaning towards not believing that. But is it an impossibility? No.”
There is no doubt that Kevin Durant going back to the Golden State Warriors would be absolutely insane. The Warriors would likely be the favorite team for the next few championships. Though they have a total of 7 Championships as of now, adding 4-time scoring Champion to Stephen Curry and co would probably put them in double figures, where only the Lakers and Celtics have 17 trophies each.
Interestingly it all depends on Golden State Warriors to trigger the trade. They have the assets to do so, but they also do have a championship-caliber team already. Trading for Kevin Durant would usually be a no-brainer, but perhaps the Warriors feel comfortable running it back with their current squad and building the future dynasty with a talented team in hand.
Here’s what reigning finals MVP Curry said about a possible reunion with KD in Tahoe, “The rumor mill and all that stuff is part of the nature of the NBA and league, you take it for what it is. You know how quickly things can change, but I like where we’re at.”
You heard the champ.
