Chris Paul called referee Tony Brothers ‘TikToker’ and got ejected with 6 seconds left in the game

Chris Paul called Tony Brother a "TikToker".

Chris Paul was ejected during the Golden State Warriors vs. the Indiana Pacers game on Friday. In the last seconds of the game, Paul received his second technical foul, which saw him getting him ejected. As the guard was not involved in any on-court altercations, fans and viewers were confused by the fouls as the game was on the verge of ending.

Later, it came to light that the star exchanged a few words with the referee Tony Brothers. In the post-game press conference, Chris Paul addressed the interaction with the game official. Paul talked about what he said to Brothers which caused both of his technicals. For the first foul, CP referred to Brothers as a ‘TikToker’ while 30 seconds were left in the fourth quarter. And further, the athlete added that Brothers had too much power which caused the second technical.

Paul said:

I just said TikToker, gave me a tech. Second one I just said it's just too much power... gave me another tech.
Chris Paul said

After the press conference, Paul posted a TikTok of Brothers on his Instagram story. In the TikTok clip, the official admitted to not being interested in basketball. Brothers was seen saying:

I don't even really care too much for basketball.
Tony Brothers said

Further, the referee said he became a referee to complete his desire of wanting to be a judge. And now as an NBA official, he has the power to fulfill all the jobs on the court. Brothers added:

Now I’m the judge, the jury, prosecuting attorney, defense attorney, everybody.
Tony Brothers added

The Golden State Warriors guard called Brothers a “Tiktoker,” referring to his particular TikTok, and claimed that the referee had too much authority on the basketball court. By sharing the Instagram story, Paul expressed that the referee misused his power to give the player two technical fouls and get him ejected in the final seconds.

Chris Paul has a losing record against another NBA referee

This is not the first time Paul has been in the hot water with an NBA official. Before he got ejected for his exchange with Tony Brothers, the guard had a history of bad relationships with Scott Foster. The player on multiple occasions has been vocal about his feelings towards the official. There is even a record of Paul losing under Foster’s officiating in games.

In November 2023, Foster ejected Paul during the Phoenix Suns vs. Warriors game. After the game, in the press conference, Paul publicly admitted that Foster’s reason behind his calls towards the player is personal. In the rivalry, Foster has refereed Paul’s 20 playoff games, and in those games, the player has ended with a 3-17 record.

Being known as the ‘Point God‘, Paul is certainly aware of the rules and calls in the NBA. Therefore, the player does not restrain himself from calling out the official’s calls during the games. However, the star being vocal has not resulted well for him as the player is now ejected twice for having words against the NBA officials.
