Draymond Green made a return to the starting lineup following his 5-game suspension. Former Phoenix Suns Sixth Man of the Year Eddie Johnson on this has asked Green’s antics need to be checked if the Golden State Warriors are to perform at an elite level and have another go at the NBA Championship.

Johnson said Chris Paul is the guy who can talk sense into Green. The veteran point guard is not afraid to speak straight man to man with Green. Green’s other long-time teammates Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are good teammates. So, they might not confront him. But Paul can, and he needs to, if Green has to focus on the championship more than his antics.

Draymond Green was hit with a technical foul in his return game vs. the Sacramento Kings. Flopping and mocking a foul call are the latest antics Green has resorted to. And the referees did not hesitate to call the technical. This led Johnson to say on SiriusXM NBA Radio;

Steph and Klay are good teammates. They protect you. They don't go off on you when you do the stuff that you do. You got somebody on that team that will now. Chris Paul will tell you, and I'm waiting for that to happen. Chris Paul is not scared of him. Chris Paul will tell him. He'd tell him in front of the team. He'd tell him to his face.

Leadership qualities are not a problem for the experienced Warriors trio. Green himself is a leader in that team. But he needs to stop the antics now and focus on helping the team to compete. He also needs to keep a focus on the long-term goal of winning another championship.

What does Draymond Green need to do?

Green knows the Golden State Warriors championship chances are dwindling every year. Last year the bustup with Jordan Poole led to chemistry issues within the team. This year his 5-game suspension for choking Rudy Gobert shows a sign of desperation.

Even Stephen Curry had some say about Green’s play on Tuesday in interaction with media.

For him, be fiery. Be competitive. Be who you are--But we all have to be mindful of not getting distracted and just try to play basketball.

The important thing is to keep your focus and not get distracted. That is where Chris Paul comes in. A bona fide leader, Paul can keep things in check, as per Johnson.
