Chris Paul and Wilt Chamberlain 100 percent from field
Chris Paul put up a perfect show at Smoothie King Center against New Orleans Pelicans. In the process, he joined the list of some legends in the history books led by Wilt Chamberlain. Phoenix Suns were looking for early closure of 1st round series against the brave New Orleans Pelicans team when the Point-god decided to embrace his legacy even further.
The 36-year-old Chris Paul certainly played with the killer intent and made no error in putting the ball in the basket. To those who are not aware, CP3 scored 33 points with 14-of-14 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. This put Chris Paul on the list of some legendary players who made the perfect day on the court, led by record-setter Wilt Chamberlain.
Holder of many records ever to be written in NBA history books, Wilt Chamberlain holds the record of scoring the most points in playoff games without missing from the field. Chamberlain scored 44 points against Baltimore Bullets in Feb 1967. Most recent to join that elite list would be Suns’ Chris Paul with 33 points and 100% shooting.
Chris Paul re-writing the record books with a massive performance for Suns in Game 6
Not only was Chris Paul 100% from the field, he was 100% from the free-throw line also, which means he never missed a bucket in the entire game, rerates feat to achieve. Chamberlain also missed 8 free throws in the game against the Bullets.
Other players who were 100% from the field in playoff games were, Peja Stojakovic who scored 21 points against the Lakers in the 2011 series. Dallas’ other player Brad Davis was highest with the points to the day, scoring 26 points against Utah Jazz in 1986. Danny Green is also on the list and is still active in the league. He scored 17 points against Dallas in the 2014 series. Andre Iguodala and De’Andre Jordan score 15 each against the Celtics and Warriors.
Chris Paul’s performance not only indicates the shooting efficiency of the greatest playmaker of this era but also shows his desire to grab his 1st ever Larry O’Brien trophy. After some mediocre – by his standards, performances in the last games, Paul set his foot on the pedal and destroyed the Pelicans’ challenge. That being said, Suns will now be locking horns against the Dallas Mavericks in the semi-finals round.
