Chris Paul for Bradley Beal is Suns’ FIX for championship next season, claims NBA analyst
Adrian Wojnarowski highlights Phoenix Suns' aggressive pursuit of a Championship.
Bradley Beal and Chris Paul
In a long-anticipated move, the Washington Wizards have finally parted ways with their All-Star guard, Bradley Beal. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the Phoenix Suns have successfully acquired Beal in a trade that will reshape NBA dynamics.
According to the report, the Suns will send Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, multiple second-round picks, and pick swaps to the Wizards in exchange for Beal. This blockbuster trade signifies the Suns’ commitment to becoming legitimate championship contenders. The team’s owner, Matt Ishbia, has shown a willingness to take on Beal’s massive contract and solidify their roster.
“Matt Ishbia was willing to take on the $200 million plus left on Bradley Beal’s contract and willing to take that on essentially for him to be a third option once Ishbia made the Kevin Durant trade at the trade deadline,” Wojnarowski explained.
With this trade, Beal joins forces with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant in Phoenix. The Suns now have a powerful lineup for the 2023–24 season. This move demonstrates the Suns’ “all-in” mentality as they strive to secure an NBA championship.
“[The Suns] are trying to win a championship now. … They have, certainly, three of the great offensive weapons in the NBA right now together,” Wojnarowski added.
According to Wojnarowski, Ishbia’s decision to acquire Beal stems from his earlier trade deadline acquisition of Kevin Durant. The owner believed that in order to contend for a championship, the Suns needed to keep pushing forward, despite the sacrifices in terms of draft picks and roster depth.
While the Suns’ roster appears formidable on paper, building depth and navigating the challenges posed by the new Collective Bargaining Agreement and salary cap restrictions will be crucial. However, the team’s focus remains clear; they are determined to win a championship during this window of opportunity.

Kevin Durant’s praise validates Suns’ blockbuster trade for Beal
The recent acquisition of Bradley Beal by the Phoenix Suns has sparked excitement and anticipation among fans and analysts alike. The high praise that Beal received from his new teammate, Kevin Durant, has added to the excitement surrounding this formidable trio.
Durant’s comments from December 2022, in which he referred to Beal as a “Hall of Fame, All-Star scorer,” have resurfaced and only serve to further elevate expectations for the Suns. Durant’s recognition of Beal’s varied skill set emphasizes that he is much more than just a prolific scorer.
With the addition of Beal alongside All-Star guard Devin Booker, the Suns now possess an offensive lineup. This trio’s scoring potential is unmatched, rivaling any of the remarkable big threes we have witnessed in recent years. During the 2023 NBA Playoffs alone, Booker and Durant averaged over 62 points per game combined, showcasing their ability to dominate on the offensive end.
The Suns’ emphasis on acquiring an exceptional scorer like Beal demonstrates their commitment to resolving the scoring imbalance and strengthening their offensive capabilities. The Suns hope to establish themselves as one of the league’s top scoring teams by adding Beal to the mix.
