Amidst trade talks, new reports have surfaced that Golden State Warriors could’ve landed Damian Lillard. The Warriors were one of Lillard’s preferred trade destinations heading into the summer.

The Warriors lost out on creating another potential dynasty when they traded for the veteran Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards. The team was removed nine days before Damian Lillard’s trade request was officially acknowledged by Blazers general manager Joe Cronin.

Lillard has requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers ending his 11-year tenure with the team. The sharpshooter has made it clear that he wants to go to the Miami Heat shutting down other potential suitors.

However, report from Ramona Shelburne indicated that another team was on Lillard’s radar. The report stated,“They could have waited for Dame. Dame is from the Bay Area. I know he was interested…If he was going to ask for a trade…the Warriors would have been on that list.”

The Warriors, after signing Paul, have used up all their cap space and are in no condition to withstand Lillard’s $176 million contract. The pairing of Dame Time with Chef Curry would’ve been a sight to see, but the nature of Lillard’s trade request made it difficult for the Warriors to even know that the seven-time All-NBA player was available.

The Warriors are looking to run it back with their core group of Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green. Lillard’s future is still up in the air as the seven-time All-Star is still in the middle of a trade war.

As per reports, Jayson Tatum is attempting to ‘Figure out a way’ to get Damian Lillard to the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are also reported in play to acquire Lillard as their franchise player is scurrying over to get the Portland star on his team.

Dame has made it clear that he wants to be a Miami Heat, but trade talks failed to come to fruition as Miami’s offer package failed to match the demands of the Blazers. As per Adrian Wojnarowski, “Miami has no advantage over nay other team because of Lillard’s demands.”

With the report coming out, all the pieces fall in place for the Celtics to pounce on the opportunity to sign Dame, as they have more than enough to lure the Blazers. Recently the Celtics traded Grant Williams to the Mavericks for a few picks to clear up their cap space. This could be a signal that the Celtics are nearing a deal to seal Lillard as a Celtic.

The Boston Celtics will be an immediate favorite to win the Championship if Brad Stevens somehow pulled this off. A line-up of Jaylen Brown, Tatum, Porzingis, and Lillard will be virtually impossible to guard.
