Multiple reports had broken about his inclusion in the deal that would send Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns.
The deal itself came together quickly, with The Athletic first reporting on June 14 that the Wizards were considering a trade involving Beal as part of their larger rebuilding plans. One possibility is a reunion with the Los Angeles Clippers, as reported by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who stated that the Clippers seem to have an edge over the Los Angeles Lakers if Paul becomes a free agent.
Paul may be traded or released by the Wizards, which appears likely given his little worth to a team that is now undergoing a front-office shakeup. Paul, who is 38 years old, is a seasoned professional who has played for five different teams and even held the position of president of the players’ union.
