“Enough with the crying!” Chris Russo tells Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics to stop moaning about officials

Chris Russo Thinks that Stephen Curry moans over fouls in games between Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics

American sports radio personality Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo criticised players of both 2022 NBA Finals teams as Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics players grumble over the officiating in the series.

The 2022 NBA Finals now have a maximum of 96 minutes of basketball left. With 5 games down, the Golden State Warriors hold a 3-2 series lead. Teams played their hearts out in every game trying to pull a win over the period. Fans experienced the highest level of shooting, defenses, and tactics over the 5 games from both the teams, but one more common thing that connects both the opponents are “constant complaining regarding officiating in the games”. Chris “Mad Dog” Russo has an issue with the same thing, but it’s with players, not the officials. Russo is tired of players on both teams complaining about the NBA officials after every play. He believes that fans want to see a ball game and constant moaning over referee decisions makes the game dull.

Making his presence on the “First Take” show, Chris Russo comments on the players’ behavior after turnovers, missed shots, or even on a loose ball. 62-years old analyst is of a belief that the on-court authorities are doing their job, while players should work on games rather than “Cry for foul”.

The 2022 NBA Championship is on the line, and games are getting intense, more than ever. Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors rose above all the challenges thrown at them and reached this stage for the most prestigious trophy of the season. So every player wants to be perfect and contribute to the cause. Tactically teams are looking for some easy baskets and with drawing fouls from opponents, free throw shooting is the easiest way to add points. Also, the eventual foul trouble weakens the rival’s defenses.

Keeping this in mind, players of both teams are constantly looking for the fouls, and when they don’t get it in their way, they start complaining about it on spot or in interviews. Officiating might be wrong on some occasions, but the player’s moaning over the same hampers the game.

In a recent segment on ESPN’s “First Take,” Russo said, “I’ll tell you the other thing too, and it goes to both teams, enough. This is what the average fan thinks. Enough of moaning and groaning about the officials.”

Pointing out the star players, who are, as per Russo, complaining more than usual he added“Curry looks at the official every single time. ‘I didn’t foul, and I got fouled. Why am I at the line?’ Smart can go crazy. Obviously, you just mentioned Tatum. Green we all know about. Enough with the officials every single time. They’re moaning and groaning about the officials.”

As per Russo, Stephen Curry is making more fuss about the referring in the games. During the same segment, Russo believes more people should criticize Steph Curry’s foul-hunting and target the 2 time MVP for his complaints. He said about the Warriors’ main man, “Curry never commits a foul, but he thinks he’s fouled every single time, though. He’s great, so nobody wants to knock Curry, but that is fact.”

To be fair, Curry is heavily guarded in the series looking to his reputation for accurate shooting. The top defensive team of the 2022 season looks to lock Steph and avoid any space to shoot. The physicality and contacts are obvious in such hard pressing. But it’s on officials to decide the fouls.

Russo on his part is right though. Players should be more concerned about the scores and game rather than looking at the “charity line” for easy way-outs. Game-6 is just hours away and we might not see a sudden change in the “Cry for Foul” attitude.
