Christian Wood is currently out injured and is not playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Sitting courtside for the past two games, he will be re-evaluated in time. He used the time away to attend to some family-related issues. Only for it to backfire, when he was alleged to have threatened a woman with a shovel over a child custody dispute.

Christian Wood shares a child with Instagram model Yasmine Lopez. Lopez had left their son with her friend Tee. Early in the morning at 5 a.m. Wood was recorded on video outside Tee’s front door with what seemed like a shovel in his hands. Tee alleged that Wood threatened to beat her up with the shovel after she did not give his son to him. She mentioned in her Instagram post:

Came to the door with a shovel to beat my head in as so he said. Thank God the baby wasn't there this man is dangerous and not fit to be a father. I WILL SEE U IN COURT.

Tee said that her legal team would contact Wood regarding the entire fiasco outside her house. She did mention that the baby was not there at the moment this happened.

Christian Wood initially told Tee that he was the legal guardian of his son. But since she did not know who he was, she would not give up the child. Tee alleges that after the police showed Wood that his child was safe with his mother, he brought the shovel to threaten her.

Tee tagged the official Instagram accounts of the Lakers, owner Jeanie Buss, and Wood’s account as well. The law will now try to settle the matter as apparently Wood and Lopez are in a child custody battle.

Christian Wood’s career from undrafted G-League to Lakers

Wood had a terrible draft experience. Initially thought to be a late 1st round pick, his stock plummeted when rumors of his work ethic floated around. Going undrafted altered his life. He then bounced around on G-League teams annually. Once he got his chance for extended minutes with the New Orleans Pelicans and the Detroit Pistons, he took advantage of it.

Wood went on to consistently produce respectable numbers, enough to get him his first multi-year deal with the Houston Rockets. Then after subsequent stops with the Dallas Mavericks, he signed with the Lakers this off-season.

It seems Christian Wood’s efforts to quietly revive his career have met with a roadblock. Now, his son is the center of attention. His alleged custody dispute with the mother of his child has brought him bad news when he did not need it.
