The LA Lakers recently made history by winning what was the first iteration of the league’s In-Season tournament. LeBron James, who was selected as the MVP of the tournament, later dedicated the victory to the team’s young stars, as the $500k each player would receive represented a lot of value for the players in question.

While this did not obviously include the 28-year-old Christian Wood, the former Rockets and Mavericks star recently revealed a heartwarming update about his life. Wood claimed that he had bought his mother what had been her dream house for many years.

Posting the images of his purchase on Instagram, Wood posed alongside his mother who also seemed to be delighted with the house. Wood also posted the following caption alongside the images:

Life goal.. bought MA her dream house I promised her before I turn 30 I love you happy new year

Wood has not played a huge part for the Lakers this season. He has had consistent injury issues and has started just 1 of the 29 games that he has appeared in, thus far. His reduced game time comes after a couple of successful seasons. Wood averaged a whopping 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds last season, despite starting just 17 games.

The player has had to deal with the presence of Anthony Davis and LeBron himself, although head coach Darvin Ham only recently claimed that LeBron will be starting as a PG for the near future. That, just might represent a change in fortunes for Wood as well, as far as his gametime is concerned.

LA Lakers made history by winning the first In-Season championship

LeBron James and the LA Lakers have lost their way a bit since winning the In-Season tournament. Since winning the finals against Tyrese Haliburton’s Indiana Pacers, LeBron James and company have gone 3-8.

This had resulted in a considerable dropoff, with the Lakers currently only a 50% team with a 17-17 record. A range of reasons have played a part. Being short on luck, apart from the fact that Anthony Davis has been utterly inconsistent thus far appears to be the major reason.

Add to that the fact that the Lakers’ best shooters have struggled to make the most of opportunities means that the team needs a quick change in fortune in order to again establish themselves as title contenders. For the time being, fans have called for the addition of a third superstar.
