During Game 3 against the Los Angeles Lakers, Dillon Brooks of the Memphis Grizzlies committed a serious offense on the court, resulting in his ejection. He poked LeBron James below the waist, causing him to fall to the ground in pain. The referees determined that Brooks’ actions were unnecessary and excessive, which resulted in a Flagrant 2 foul being called, leading to his immediate ejection from the game
Despite the media and fan backlash, Brooks stood by his actions and did not believe he was in the wrong during the incident. According to Brooks, his “villain” image led to his suspension from the game. Prior to Game 4, he expressed to the media that,“The media making me a villain, the fans making me a villain, that just creates another persona on me.”
Michael Wilbon, an NBA analyst, didn’t see from the same eyes though. He ridiculed Brooks, calling him different names and highlighting that everything happening was his own fault. The analyst fired straight shots, saying, “Let me attack Dillon Brooks this way.”
He then added how Brooks’ performance had deteriorated and become terrible, so much that it was harming his own team. Wilbon then said, “There’s nothing lamer and softer and more gutless than running your mouth & then blaming other people.” He highlighted how Brooks was scared of standing by his own words, calling it “a gutless act.”
Wilbon also said that Brooks was being a “chump” for not standing by his own words. He said, “Right now, Dillon Brooks looks like a chump.” He finally said, “You’re scared to stand by your words? Please. Get out”

Dillon Brooks has recently been causing trouble with his outspoken remarks. As a prominent member of the Memphis Grizzlies, the star player’s outspoken words have made ripples online. Some of his most prominent remarks include attacking LeBron James, downplaying his professional accomplishments, and referring to him as “old.” These are just a handful of the numerous inflammatory statements he has made during the season.
The Grizzlies’ forward fearlessly mentioned big names in an interview before the Lakers’ series and expressed confidence in facing LeBron James, saying, “let’s knock him out.” Brooks continued his controversial behavior in a post-game interview following the Grizzlies’ Game 2 victory, declaring that he only respects players who score 40 points and insulted James’ age. According to fans, this might be due to karma catching up with him.
The Grizzlies have now fallen behind 3-1 to the Lakers after losing Game 4. It will be interesting to see how the team recovers from this and whether they are even capable of doing so. Brooks, on the other hand, might deeply be regretting his recent choices.
