John Wall is finally preparing to bounce back on the court with the Los Angeles for the ultimate 2022-23 showdown. According to league insider Marc Stein, Wall is ‘looking terrific’ in his summer workouts, implying that an extraordinary devotion to his profession is working against the former All-Star guard.

Wall, a former franchise cornerstone for the Washington Wizards, has reached rock bottom in his career in recent years. He recently acknowledged to having suicidal thoughts while dealing with unavailability issues, solitude, and the anguish of his beloved mother’s passing. The 31-year-old will compete in training camp with current starter Reggie Jackson for the point guard position when the team opens the season on Oct. 20 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

On the John Wall return route, everything appears to be going on all cylinders. According to NBA analyst Marc Stein, Wall has “looked bright in offseason workouts and is set to contribute for the Clippers.” After striking a buyout deal with the Houston Rockets, the five-time All-Star signed a two-year, $13.2 million contract with the Clippers in July.

Despite being totally fit, Houston did not play Wall throughout the 2021-22 season. Instead, the organisation prioritised minutes for its young guards, and Wall spent the most of the season away from team facilities. Wall has only appeared in 40 games in the last three seasons and 113 games in the last five. He’s had recurrent knee problems and ruptured his Achilles during the 2018-19 season. Wall was a significantly weakened version of his great self the last time we saw him on an NBA court, scoring 20.6 points and 6.9 assists while shooting a career-low 40.4 percent for a terrible Rockets club.

Preseason is now less than a month away, and the Clippers will get to witness their bunch play together for the first time. Normally insignificant, the preseason will provide an opportunity for players like John Wall and Kawhi Leonard to see game action for the first time in almost a year. Wall’s consistent contribution, playmaking, and drive to recover from adversity will be critical in Los Angeles’ continuous pursuit of the coveted ring.
