Skip Bayless blamed the Clippers organization for falling into a similar trap the Lakers fell into in 2021 by letting Russell Westbrook start.

Sports columnist and commentator Skip Bayless is known for his extremely critical takes. He hasn’t shied away from expressing himself, even if it’s at the expense of receiving backlash from most of the internet. Among all players, Lakers forward LeBron James is Bayless’ primary target. Bayless gave his 2 cents about former MVP Russell Westbrook’s new role with the LA Clippers.
Recently, former Laker Russell Westbrook signed with the Los Angeles Clippers after being bought out by the Utah Jazz. Westbrook has been reunited with former OKC teammate Paul George at LAC. With the Clippers scheduled to play the Sacramento Kings in their first game post the All-Star Break, they announced that Westbrook would be starting at Point Guard. Bayless took to his Twitter immediately and went, “INCREDIBLE but predictable: RUSSELL WESTBROOK IS STARTING FOR THE CLIPPERS. Somewhere LeBron is chuckling, rolling his eyes. Clips have fallen into the same trap LeBron did before last season, saying they’ll “let Russ be Russ.” He’ll be on his best behavior for a while, then …”
The Lakers acquired Westbrook in 2021 from Washington after trading away Kyle Kuzma. Westbrook failed to impress after averaging relatively fewer than 18 points a game compared to what he’s done previously. He gave up his starting spot at the beginning of this season to Patrick Beverley, who also got traded at the deadline. Despite putting up handy performances off the bench, Westbrook couldn’t really contribute to a turnaround the Lakers were expecting.

Russell Westbrook notches up 14 assists in Clippers debut

Russell Westbrook donned the Clippers threads for the first time vs the Sacramento Kings yesterday. The game was straight out of history books and set the record for the second-highest-scoring game in NBA history.
The Kings clinched the game in the dramatic 2 overtime thriller with the score reading 176-175. It was a debut to remember for Westbrook, as he put up 17 points on 52 percent shooting while dishing out 14 assists.
Besides, Westbrook also scored a clutch basket with 15 seconds to go in the 4th Quarter, but turned the ball over 7 times and fouled out in the second overtime. The Kings were down 11 points with 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, but their in-form point guard De’Aaron Fox took the game over and turned things around with the help of reserve guard Malik Monk, who lead the game in scoring with a career-high 45 points. The duo combined for 87 points and outclassed Kawhi Leonard’s 44-point effort for the Clippers.
