Michael Jordan is arguably one of the greatest athletes of all time let alone being the best basketball player to have stepped on the court. There was quality in the GOAT that brought swarms of people from pan America/World to the arenas. He averaged 30.1 points per game throughout his career and won several accolades including six NBA titles and six league MVP awards.
The Chicago Bulls star became an overnight success story despite having a lot of controversial bumps in his way. He happens to be one of three billionaire athletes in the world worth a little over a billion. A few years ago, his very own documentary titled “The Last Dance” was released. It portrayed the events that took place during the 1997 Bulls champion run. The show was a hit but also stirred a lot of controversy.

Derek Jeter gets compared to Michael Jordan following the release of “The Captain”
Derek Jeter became one of the best baseball players and built an impressive career over two decade of work with the Major League Baseball (MLB). The New York Yankees were one of the better teams during his career and he also won the league’s MVP award in the year 2000. The five-time world series champion retired as a Yankee in 2014 and received the second highest Hall of Fame voting percentage (99.75%).
The athlete turned business had a documentary series released titled “The Captain”. The show went viral on its release July 18th, 2022 and the former MLB star received a lot of attention. The series was more about Jeter himself rather than it being on the Yankee dynasty. This also received a lot of comparisons between Michael Jordan and the baseball legend, not everyone settled well with them.
Colin Cowherd furious about Jeter-Jordan comparisons
Colin Cowherd has always been pro Michael Jordan ever since the start of his career as a sports reporter. Recently, he expressed his take on the Jeter-Jordan comparisons following the release of the documentary series. “First of all Michael Jordan is different. In American sports, we have stars, superstars, and then we have Jordan. He’s in a different galaxy. You can’t compare him to anyone.”
He further said, “Everybody in society is overrated or underrated. Derek Jeter is appropriately rated and so is everybody else. Nobody thinks Tom Cruise is the best actor and no reasonable person would deny he’s an absolute rock star of a movie star… and that’s what Derek Jeter is. He was the coolest baseball player in a sport that doesn’t like glamour, doesn’t elevate stars, there’s a way to play the game, there’s unwritten rules and… Jeter was cool.”
