“You’ve got to be willing to confront stars” Colin Cowherd claims Steve Nash’s lack of authority caused split with the Nets

Analyst Colin Cowherd feels that Steve Nash didn’t take control of the Brooklyn Nets team which is why he was fired as head coach. The analyst thinks that even though the Nets have a star-studded line-up, Steve was the actual boss who had to make the team work. Failing to do so the Nets had to split up with Nash.

Colin Cowherd was talking on ‘The Herd,’ show, where he quoted, “The second thing is and it’s a fair argument that Steve’s not a confrontational guy and this team probably needed a tough confrontational coach. If you look in the NBA, where you got a lot of coddled superstars, confrontational coaches do well. The guy in Boston who got fired is gonna get the Brooklyn job, confrontational pop of it.”

Colin added, “So, Mike D’Antoni is a very good coach but he won’t be confrontational. Mike D’Antoni bounces around this league. You’ve got to be willing to confront stars and that’s not Steve Nash’s thing, he’s really a nice guy.” Had Steve Nash been stricter and more authorized, he wouldn’t have had to leave his job.

The Brooklyn Nets were in talks with the suspended Boston Celtics coach before ousting Steve Nash

Ime Udoka and Steve Nash

The Brooklyn Nets made the most unexpected decision by firing head coach Steve Nash as they had a miserable start to their season. It was reported that suspended Celtics coach Ime Udoka could replace him. At the same time, Nash has been quite positive about his stint with Brooklyn. However, it is rumored that Udoka was consulted before Steve was sacked.

The Nets have struggled to start well the season hence they can’t afford to be without an experienced and well-respected coach. Bringing a coach without experience would be such a volatile and fragile decision that it would never work out well for the Nets. Everyone knows why the Celtics suspended Ime Udoka.

Hiring him would be a big risk as the Nets have already been a part of many fiascos. The team is still not performing well after Nash is shown the way out. The Nets have suffered a lot, so getting a coach who confronts his players and addresses them within time is necessary.
