“He’s the barker…the villain” Colin Cowherd defends Draymond Green for squaring up with Jordan Poole
Draymond Green, Jordan Poole and Colin Cowherd
NBA analyst Colin Cowherd defended Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green for his recent brawl with his own teammate, Jordan Poole. Apparently, Draymond Green punched the young and emerging stud during the Golden State Warriors’ practice session. Colin Cowherd was talking on the show ‘The Herd,’ where he highlighted this incident where Green might face disciplinary action.
Colin Cowherd said, “After you win championships, you need Draymond Green to bark at the established stars and Steve Kerr, and to challenge the future stars, Jordan Poole. Kobe was unrelenting. After championships, during championships. Michael Jordan punched teammates.” He added, “You got to have somebody, when you win a championship, to poke you. Dennis Rodman did it for the Bulls, Udonis Haslem has done it for Miami.”
Colin further added, “Draymond Green knows exactly what he is. He’s the tough guy, he’s the barker, he’s the communicator, he’s the villain. Offensively, he’s often a catalyst. The Warriors, for the occasional misstep of Draymond, and I don’t classify this as that, they know the value of him.” Warriors general manager Bob Mayers addressed this brawl and conveyed that Green has apologized to the team and will be punished internally. Myers also said that he doesn’t believe the incident was related to who was getting paid.
Draymond Green won’t face suspension for his brawl with Jordan Poole
According to GM Bob Myers, Draymond Green will not miss any games or face suspension due to his brawl with Jordan Poole at the Warriors’ practice session. Myers told reporters on Thursday that Green apologized to both coaches and teammates in attendance, including Jordan Poole, at practice on Thursday. The star forward went home afterward and could face internal punishment from the team in the coming time.
Mayers said, “It’s the NBA, professional sports, these things happen. No one likes it, we don’t condone it, it’ll take some time to move through it and move forward, which we will.” He added, “I don’t think this was related to who was getting paid and who isn’t. I don’t sense that. Probably more important what the players think on that but I don’t see it.” The Warriors will start their title defense against the Lakers in the 2022-2023 NBA season on Oct. 18.
