The Los Angeles Lakers secured the seventh seed in the Western Conference playoffs in a thrilling play-in tournament victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite being down by 15 points in the second half, the Lakers made an impressive comeback and won the game, setting up a first-round matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The game was full of excitement and tension, with Anthony Davis committing a crucial foul on Mike Conley Jr.’s 3-point attempt in the dying moments of regulation time. Although the Lakers were leading 98-95, Conley Jr. managed to hit all three free throws, tying the game and sending it into overtime.

Despite Davis’ error, the Lakers were able to regroup and take control in overtime. LeBron James led the way with 30 points, while Davis and Dennis Schroder contributed 24 and 21 points, respectively.

However, not everyone was impressed with the Lakers’ performance. Sports commentator Colin Cowherd took to the airwaves to demand that the Lakers trade Davis following his game-changing mistake.

Cowherd’s frustration was understandable, as Davis is widely regarded as one of the best players in the league. However, it remains to be seen whether the Lakers will pay attention to his advice and explore a trade for the talented forward. For now, the Lakers can look forward to their first-round matchup against the Grizzlies, who finished the regular season with a 51-31 record.

While Anthony Davis’ costly foul on Mike Conley Jr.’s game-tying 3-point attempt could have derailed the Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff hopes, LeBron James was quick to downplay the error in a postgame interview.

“It’s unfortunate that AD had a brain fart and messed his game-winner up,” James said. “But we were able to regroup and get the win, and that’s what matters.”
“I messed his game-winner up, I apologize,” Davis said. “I definitely apologize.”

For now, the Laker’s focus will be on preparing for their matchup against the Grizzlies, and ensuring that Davis’ mistake does not repeat itself in the playoffs. The Lakers will need to be firing on all cylinders if they hope to secure their first NBA championship since 2020.
