Colin Cowherd is a die-hard Michael Jordan fan, but when he is presenting analysis he generally gives true evaluation. In the most recent recent episode of the Herd – Colin Cowherd praises LeBron James for his recent performances and even puts him above Michael Jordan in one aspect of the game – longevity on the court. LBJ has Colin Cowherd in awe as the analyst compares the ‘elite’ longevity of James to Michael Jordan’s rather disappointing career ending.
Cowherd said, “MJ played 1200 games in his career, in his last 250 he was shot … LeBron’s played 1600 games and still has a burst.” LeBron James is entering his 20th year in the league and still playing his best basketball. He finished off the 2022 season averaging 30.3 points per game – 2nd best in the league last season.
Michael Jordan has a very illustrious career and a winner in every NBA Finals he played in had a somewhat contrasting end to his career. Michael Jordan averaged 20 points per game with the Wizards, while in his second to last year he averaged 22.9 points per game. Jordan played from 1984 to 2002, but with 2 breaks, before finally retiring at age of 40.
LeBron is only thirty-seven, but he has nearly never taken any breaks. Right now 4-time Champion James is playing against athletes ten years younger than him, and ‘The King’ continues to dominate. For LeBron to play almost twenty seasons in the league and still have the energy that he does is extraordinary.
With his current performance in the Drew League, Colin Cowherd predicts that James is fittest since last he won Championship – back in 2020. LeBron James is hoping to take over the GOAT title long held by MJ. But as energetic and elite as James has been for 19 straight seasons, is it incredible enough to eclipse Jordan’s aura?
Colin Cowherd would prefer LeBron James over Kevin Durant
Kevin Durant is one elite star playing in the James Era and taunted strong competitor for LeBron James. He helped Golden State Warriors to win back-to-back titles against Lebron James in 2017 and 2018. Durant won 4 scoring championships and was named Finals MVP 2 times. Warriors won 8 out of 9 final encounters, asserting their dominance in the 2 consecutive finals.
That dented LeBron’s hope of being GOAT, but still, for Colin Cowherd, he is a better player than Kevin Durant. Cowherd said, “If you told me I could sign KD or LeBron for a two-year contract, I’d sign LeBron… I believe he can be the best player on the best team in the league.”
Colin Cowherd praised LeBron’s leadership quality and improved his teammates in games.
