Draymond Green has not been having it easy from the critics calling him out for his behavior in the NBA Finals. He has not necessarily had his best performances lately and especially during the final stage of the season. The Golden State Warriors are currently facing a game’s deficit in series with the Boston Celtics up 2-1.
The veteran NBA forward has as many fouls as he has points in the series with 15 each. An analysis according to StatMuse shows that he also has more technical fouls than made three-pointers and way more turnovers than field goals. He is currently averaging 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists shooting 26% from the field and 50% from the line without zero made threes.
Draymond Green opens up about Game 3 blunder
Draymond Green spoke about his recent performances and took the blame for most of it. He said, “Tonight may have been one of the worst games in my career. Honestly, I totally out smarted myself. Coming into the game you hear all the chattering, all the noise and the noise gets closer to you. And its like, ‘Hey you can’t get into it with the refs, hey you have to be very careful you can’t go into the game like this.’”
“And not that I am blaming my performance on anybody cause I don’t blame anything to do with me. I’m a man of mine, I hold on it and I stand on it. But I think for me, I let too much noise get into my head about all the other stuff. And so in turn I let that drag my intensity level down… I did the exact opposite of what I said I will do. I actually did what most people think I should do.” He also explained how he did let himself control what he did so in the following games, that is what needs to be done.
Colin Cowherd claps back at Draymond Green for blaming the “outside noise”
Colin Cowherd did not feel like Draymond Green’s reasons were valid enough to cover up his performances lately. He said, “So he let the refs get into his head. Refs do not decide championships. You really think the refs wanted Dirk Nowitzki in the mostly nameless, faceless Mavericks to beat Wade and LeBron… you really think they were rooting for that? You really think small market Milwaukee… not big market Philly or Miami… they were really rooting last year for the Milwaukee Bucks.”
“There’s just somethings the player shouldn’t care about and it should be the officials. All they do is jaw with them. In my business, there are things I absolutely care about. I’ll give you one, revenue. Not ratings, revenue, cause when the revenue is pouring in, the bosses upstairs are happy, the owners are happy, my employees are happy. And there are things I don’t worry about, hate mail.”
