Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers are rumored to part ways this season too. Just like the past 3-4 off-seasons once again the all-star guard and the Portland-based team have the genuine basketball world curious and confused. Many speculated and strongly believed that the frustrating drama between Damian Lillard and the Blazers will end this summer around the 2023 NBA Draft.
But unfortunately, nothing like that happened and Damian Lillard is still a Blazer and the franchise is yet to land a superstar to support him. The actions of the Portland Trail Blazers front office on the draft night had Lillard and his people upset. But Dame’s loyalty still has him committed to the system. Recent reports reveal the all-star guard is still trusting the franchise this summer after a decade of disappointing and failed efforts.
As reported by NBA Insider, Brian Windhorst: “Damian Lillard hasn’t requested a trade and plans to ‘wait around’ to see what Portland does in free agency.” Dame is undoubtedly a real one for Rip City as he is still willing to wait for the franchise to pull a shocker and be loyal to them. The Free Agency Market this year features some stars who can help Blazers in getting the job done and have Damian Lillard happy.
Lillard and his agent even had a meeting with GM Joe Cronin. The GM later reported that the franchise is committed to building a winner around Dame. Also, in the latest episode of ESPN’s “GET UP,” Brian Windhorst revealed how the all-star guard isn’t pressing the franchise and just wants some pieces which can have a shot. He said: “This was the meeting that a lot of the league was watching to see if Damian Lillard requested a trade, and he absolutely did not. In fact, from what I understand, the tenor of the meeting was he doesn’t want to put pressure on the Blazers, that he wants to see how they do in free agency, and he’s going to give them that time to do that. So, this is an interesting strategic move.”
Windy also mentioned how Lillard’s demand of having veterans around isn’t fulfilled yet and how he has shocked everyone interested in him with this move. The Blazers though now have one more opportunity to get him going by bringing in some stars this Free Agency as they want to keep Dame in the system after the recent meet and continue building around him instead of the young core.
But the run to acquire them is not going to be easy for the Portland Trail Blazers. And, none of them comes with a guaranteed championship run. So Dame’s future with the Blazers is still uncertain and the internet is already done with this saga.

The internet is never disappointing. But now everyone is just tired of the coverage Lillard and the Blazers are eating for years. Many fans are even pissed off with the fact that Dame is still around and believes the franchise can land a player who can help him hunt for a ring.
