Finally, the Damian Lillard saga has concluded as the Portland Trail Blazers have completed a deal to trade their superstar to the Milwaukee Bucks. The off-season has been ablaze ever since Lillard requested a trade. Although his desire to join the Miami Heat didn’t materialize, he’ll now be teaming up with Giannis Antetokounmpo, creating a formidable duo.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, a three-team deal has been finalized. Lillard will join the Bucks, Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, a 2029 first-round pick, and two pick swaps will go to the Blazers, and the Suns will acquire Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson.
Lillard and his agent made it clear that the point guard wanted to be dealt to the Miami Heat. The NBA issued a clear warning to Lillard and his agent, Goodwin, through a memo sent to all 30 teams. It stated that any comments, whether made privately or publicly, suggesting Lillard might not honor his contract in case of a trade would lead to disciplinary action by the league. In the end, the Bucks went against Lillard’s desire to move to Miami by trading for him.
Lillard, 33, had a fantastic season last year, scoring 32.2 points and dishing out 7.3 assists. But he only played 58 games and took the last month off. He now forms a deadly duo with Giannis who are bound to inflict fire on their opponents.

A few weeks ago, Giannis Antetokounmpo made it clear to the Milwaukee Bucks that if they didn’t share his dedication to winning, he would consider moving on without hesitation. The warning seemed to have worked as they acquired Damian Lillard to pair alongside the Greek Freak.
Giannis will undoubtedly be thrilled to see his team making significant moves. This will serve as added motivation for the two-time MVP to extend his commitment to the Bucks beyond the 2024-25 season.
