Damian Lillard being USED by Trail Blazers despite showing loyalty to franchise and being let down, claims NBA insider

The trade saga of Damian Lillard is on throughout the weeks. It all started when Lillard requested a trade early in the off-season. A few weeks away from the beginning of training camp, and he is still in Portland. The Portland Trailblazers have been unable to finalize a trade for him and the pressure is growing. According to NBA experts, Lillard is simply being mistreated by the Blazers, despite his dedication to the franchise.

Experts say that Dame is being viewed as an asset and not a player. They feel that ever since the Blazers drafted Scoot Henderson in this year’s draft, Lillard is no longer their top priority. At this point, the Blazers are not trying to reach a deal that suits both the team and the player. Instead, they are looking at the maximum value they can milk out of Lillard. Their gameplan, according to experts, is to gain high-value assets by trading Lillard, and then using those assets to build around Henderson. Lillard, who has been loyal to the franchise for years, says he cannot put up with this. He has a win-now mentality and isn’t interested in being part of a rebuild.

NBA insider Aaron Fentress commented on the matter saying, “It was clear Portland thought ‘If we draft & keep Scoot, Dame might ask out. If he asks out—Wow what could we get for him’. Now you’re treating Dame who was loyal to you like a commodity. You wouldn’t build around Dame, but you’ll use him to build around Scoot, his replacement”

This analysis by Aaron has left many wondering. Is this what the Blazers are trying to do? Keep their main focus on Henderson, and use Dame as a tradeable asset to supplement the Blazers’ rebuild. Whether or not this was their intention, their actions have made one thing clear to Dame. Portland is no longer the city for him.

Where does Damian Lillard want to go?

According to multiple sources, including Dame himself, Miami is the final destination for him. He has been very clear about going to a team that will help him win a championship as soon as possible.

In a video that circulated online, Lillard can be seen saying that the Miami Heat is the team he thinks will be the best for him. Fans across social media went wild at the possibility, and Heat fans were especially excited about the prospect.

However, it has been close to 2 months since the release of that video and Lillard isn’t in Miami. His insistence on being traded to one team only has made it difficult for Portland to get good value in return for him. Nonetheless, there have been signs that Lillard is going to be traded including the fact that he put up an Instagram story with the caption, “future Heat legend.” Until a trade is announced, all this remains speculation and fans have no choice but to wait until something is decided.
