D’Angelo Russell in his second year with the Los Angeles Lakers pranked his teammate and close friend Nick Young. But that prank didn’t go well and turned out to be a career-altering move for Russell. It also ended Young’s relationship with his then-fiancée Izzy Azalea. Even the franchise was impacted because of it, as they registered their biggest loss in history.

D’Angelo Russell was filming Nick Young secretly while chatting with him in their room. Those were two real good friends, and Swaggy P not knowing he is being recorded, went on to admit that he cheated on his ex-fiancee Izzy Azalea. It didn’t just end there as that video ended up getting viral. Young admitted that he cheated on her with a 19-year-old girl he met at the club.

Both D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young were in a prank war throughout the season. But this is where it all ended and cost them a lot of things. Mysteriously, the video ended up getting viral and it first appeared on the Fameolous website. This broke the team apart and soon the Lakers player shut down Russell by isolating him. He was sitting alone during breakfast and was ghosted by his team every time.

It was also reported that when Russell tried to sit next to Lou Williams in the locker room, Williams just stood up and left. A source from the team told Ramona Shelburne: “It’s bad. It’s about as bad as it can get. There were trust issues already. Now there’s no trust.” Russell was even booed at home games and nobody on the team thereafter trusted him. Also, the Los Angeles Lakers went on to lose the next game after that incident by record-breaking 48 points against the Utah Jazz. As the team was very low on chemistry and nobody had positive vibes hoping to get a dub. That prank just made things worse for the already struggling roster.

Izzy Azalea thanked D’Angelo Russell for the viral video. But that wasn’t a proud moment for Russell, since what he did was fair and unfair at the very same time. He didn’t just snitch on one of his best friends but ended up breaking the team’s chemistry and losing their trust as he secretly recorded him.

The Los Angeles Lakers traded him to the Brooklyn Nets during the summer. He was supposed to be the next leader of the team. As it was Kobe Bryant’s last season and the front office believed him to be their next great Laker.

But nothing like that ever happened and he was shipped away. His beef still continues and many haven’t forgiven him for that. But now D’Angelo Russell is back with the Los Angeles Lakers and is looking forward to helping LeBron James and Anthony Davis win a title.
