The season for the Los Angeles Lakers remains mixed. This is due to the close losses as their new additions have failed to meet expectations. Consequently, the burden fell back on LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The star duo averaged 35 minutes in recent games. D’Angelo Russell also performed well. Their second win of the season came against the youthful Orlando Magic in another tightly contested match.
During the close game against the Orlando Magic, the Lakers never established a commanding lead, allowing the Magic to challenge them until the very last possession. Anthony Davis emerged as the driving force behind the Lakers’ victory, delivering a standout performance. He scored 26 points, grabbed 19 rebounds, and dished out five assists, leading the Lakers. His defensive prowess also helped the team lock down the rim with three blocks.
Following the game, Davis’ teammate D’Angelo Russell complimented AD for his outstanding performance. The Lakers’ victory became a reality due to the performance of Davis. Russell, while heading towards the locker room, praised his teammate’s efforts and incredible performance, stating, “AD’s a monster.”

This puts the Lakers’ record at 2-2, an improvement over last season when they started 2-10. LeBron played 33 minutes and scored 19 points. He finally had the chance to take on a lesser role, with D’Angelo Russell facilitating the offense. Throughout the game, Russell became a scoring threat, and lead the team in scoring with 28 points while dishing out eight assists to secure the win.
The Magic could have taken the game to overtime, but they missed two chances from the three-point line, resulting in their loss. It could have mirrored another situation like the one against the Kings, where the Lakers lost in overtime. However, they didn’t allow the Magic to do so, defending well and preventing them from executing their plays in two critical possessions within 8 seconds.
