Point Guard D’Angelo Russell of the Los Angeles Lakers has been on fire lately, and he’s not trying to hide it. He’s been on a two-month scoring binge, scoring more than 20 points a night on average in January and February. The 28-year-old guard has no trouble telling those who disagree that his current fiery streak is without a doubt the best basketball he has ever played.
D’Angelo Russell recently commented on his performance this season on the podcast “The Backyard,” and it went viral online. Russell admired the play of other players and treated them with the utmost respect. However, he also made fun of his critics with a one-liner that summarised his recent domination.
D’Angelo Russell said via The Backyard Podcast:
I am jealous of a lot of these dudes. They dunking and doing all that crazy sh*t. I got two left feet. I can barely jump and I am busting y'all favorite players a**. I appreciate y'all at the same time.D’Angelo Russell said
He expressed great admiration for the work of Victor Wembanyama, Devin Booker, and Luka Doncic on the court. Russell has improved over the last two months after a slow start to the season. He scored 26 points on 5-11 three-point shooting against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday, contributing significantly to the surprise victory.
D’Angelo Russell discusses his widely shared video of himself despondently sitting on a bench
On Sunday night, D’Angelo Russell stole the show as the Los Angeles Lakers crushed the Portland Trail Blazers 134-110. But when the match was over, he appeared dejected as he remained on the sidelines. After the video went viral, some people claimed that Russell had recently found out he was being traded by the Lakers.
During the most recent episode of The Backyard Podcast, D’Angelo provided clarification regarding that incident. He said:
I was just enjoying the game. That was a good one right there, and then somehow, someway, it became ' I was crying, I was upset about something' and I had nothing to be upset about.D’Angelo Russell added
Russell claims that even though the Zach LaVine to Los Angeles rumors were circulating at the time of the event, he had no cause for concern and was just taking pleasure in his team’s significant victory. When the trade deadline drew near, there was a lot of talk about the Russell.
