Facing mounting pressure, Coach Darvin Ham finds himself in a challenging position. Once again, his Los Angeles Lakers team suffered and came back with what was their fourth consecutive loss. In their latest defeat, the Memphis Grizzlies emerged victorious with a 127-113 score at the Crypto.com Arena.
Despite the embarrassing defeat, Coach Darvin appeared in a positive mood while speaking to the press after the game. The Lakers have just won three times and lost ten since being crowned NBA Cup Champions in Vegas last year.
Speaking after the disappointing loss, Coach Darvin had this to say:
It is the NBA. It is a marathon. You have to look at the totality of the picture. I'm tired of the people living and dying with every single game we play. Come on, man, this is a marathon, and we've hit a tough stretch. It's the same team that we play some high-level games a little while ago, and we just got to get back to that. We got to keep the fight though. We cannot lose our fight.
Evidently, the statement didn’t resonate with most fans as they made their voice heard on the popular social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The Lakers after the loss find themselves out of the NBA playoffs places, at 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 17-19 record.
Fans react to Lakers Coach Darvin Ham’s post-game press conference
The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a terrible run of form ever since being crowned the inaugural champions of the NBA In-Season Tournament (NBA Cup). Losing 10 games from 13 matches, the team has not won back-to-back games since 10th December, 2023.
To further make their discontent known, fans went on social media to express their reactions to their coach’s recent statement. A couple of fans reactions below:
With the Lakers losing the 10th spot to the Golden State Warriors, the jury is now out for both the coaches and the players to step up in the obviously difficult time. The next three games against the Los Angeles Clippers (Home), the Toronto Raptors (Home), and the Phoenix Suns (Home) have taken the form of make-or-break for the Lakers. It’s high time their millionaire stars step up.
