LeBron James’ absence left the Lakers shorthanded against the Clippers on Tuesday. Despite heroic efforts from Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell, the Lakers lost 116-127 to their city rivals. Head coach Darvin Ham of the Los Angeles Lakers has had a difficult time because the squad has faced significant obstacles during the regular season thus far.

With a 22-23 win-loss record, the Los Angeles Lakers are currently eighth in the fiercely competitive Western Conference—not quite performing like they are expected to. Darvin Ham took over the purple-and-gold before the 2022–2023 NBA season, but the Lakers haven’t shown what it takes to be real title contenders. Even yet, it was obvious to all that Darvin gave the players a brief pep talk during their game against the Clippers.

The coach wanted the Lakers to play aggressively. According to the numbers, the Lakers out-rebounded the Clippers 13–6, winning the offensive battle.

Thanks to Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell, the Lakers were able to maintain a competitive edge. But Kawhi Leonard proved too strong for them, finishing with 25 points, while James Harden contributed 23 points.

Fans mocking Darvin Ham for his pep talk with the Lakers players

The Lakers, who were playing without their star player LeBron James, opened the night against a very strong Clippers squad on Tuesday. The team lost despite keeping it close in the fourth quarter, but Ham was pleased with his team’s effort without James.

Everyone witnessed Darvin Ham discussing briefly with his players how to be in the game in between the timeouts. However, trolls on X mocked him for his remarks. Someone called Darvin out for speaking Nipsey Hussle’s lyrics in one of the comments. Due to his performance with the Lakers, the coach has become an easy target for social media users.

The Lakers’ next game is against the Chicago Bulls. The team has improved from their miserable December campaign, in which they dropped a few spots and barely managed to stay in the top 10, to a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. How Darvin handles things in the coming time will be intriguing to see.
