The recently concluded game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings was straight out of a movie. The game set the record for the second-most points ever scored in an NBA Game. 4 Quarters were not enough to decide the winner and two overtimes followed the game. The final score was 176-175 in favour of the Kings. The crypto.com arena was taken aback seeing De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk take the game over and erase an 11-point deficit with 3 minutes remaining in the 4th Quarter.

Former Lakers PG Russell Westbrook made his debut for the Clippers and had 14 assists. Fox on the other hand had 42 points and dished out 12 assists. In the post-game interview, Fox was asked to express his thoughts about Westbrook joining the Clippers to which he responded by saying, “I don’t give a f*ck who’s over there.” Fox leads the Clutch Player of the Year Ladder having made 40 shots at an astonishing 61.8 percent efficiency during clutch scenarios.

Malik Monk had a career night too, tying his career high of 45 points, OFF THE BENCH. Monk scored the game-tying three-pointer in the 4th Quarter and led all the scorers in the game. The former Laker in the postgame interview went on to say, “We come into a game only worrying about us.”

De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk were both highly-touted high school recruits who decided to play for the University of Kentucky. Their arrival brought high expectations, and they did not disappoint. Fox, a lightning-fast guard with excellent court vision, quickly became a fan favorite for his ability to break down defenses and create scoring opportunities.

Meanwhile, Monk, a smooth-shooting shooting guard with an uncanny ability to hit contested shots, emerged as one of the most exciting scorers in college basketball. Together, they led Kentucky to a 32-6 record and a trip to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Fox averaged 16.7 points per game, while also dishing out 4.6 assists. Monk wasn’t far behind, averaging 19.8 points per game and shooting an impressive 39.7% from three-point range. Their success at Kentucky translated to the NBA, as both players were selected in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft. Fox was chosen fifth overall by the Sacramento Kings, while Monk went 11th overall to the Charlotte Hornets. Though they only played together for one season, Fox and Monk left an indelible mark on Kentucky basketball and demonstrated their potential as future stars at the professional level.
