“Thought we were supposed to let players decide the game,” De’Aaron Fox fires shots at refs for one-sided calls as Lakers topple Kings

Deaaron Fox
The Sacramento Kings had a tough outing against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, and De’Aaron Fox wasn’t too pleased with the referees. After the game, Fox made his frustrations known, pointing out how the refs were making one-sided calls and ultimately deciding the outcome of the game. The Kings’ point guard made a statement that has since gone viral.
It was a very close game between 2 teams fighting for playoff spots and tensions were running high. You can forgive De’Aaron Fox a little bit for acting frustrated on the court with what he thought was an unfair call on the game-winning heave.
Before this play, there was another play that contributed to Fox’s frustrations. He tried to defend a Dennis Schroder drive and the referees ruled it as a blocking foul. The resulting free throws were the ones that won the game for the Los Angeles Lakers. In a tweet that has since been deleted, Fox expressed his frustrations, writing “Thought we were supposed to let players decide the game”
Schroder was asked about the blocking foul call after the game and he tried to offer words of encouragement to the Kings and to Fox while also saying that it was the correct call. “If you foul, you foul,” said Schroder. He added: “It’s unfortunate, because of course the game is on the line, and it’s like for free throws to win the game. I understand that point, for sure. But I mean, end of the day, you can’t foul. Especially when you’re in the bonus. He had a hell of a game, was hot, played great. For me, an All-Star with that team in fifth place, he’s doing a great job with that team.”
De’Aaron Fox’s 34 points not enough to save the Kings from 3rd loss in 4 games

The Kings have been performing above expectations so far this season and sit in 5th place in the Western Conference. The 20-18 record is better than the likes of the LA Clippers, the Phoenix Suns, and also their most recent opponents, the Los Angeles Lakers. However, they have lost 3 out of their last 4. The Kings are losing pace with the Mavericks ahead of them.
Sacramento will hope to overturn this poor run of form (and fans will tell you bad refereeing) and their next 4 games are the perfect opportunity for that. They face the Magic, the Rockets twice, and finally, the Spurs. The Kings and Fox will try their best to keep the beam lit.
