The Western Conference Semi-Finals series between the Golden State Warriors hosted the Los Angeles Lakers is off with an electric start. The first half of Game 1 at the Chase Center in San Francisco was as close as it could be, with the Lakers heading into the break leading by 1 point. The visitors took a healthy lead in the third quarter, but a 14-0 run late in the fourth quarter by the Warriors leveled the score at 112-122. However, their heroics weren’t enough, as LA won the contest on the back of clutch plays by D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Dennis Schröder.
Even though the Warriors went down in the contest, they weren’t out of shape. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were the top scorers for Golden State with 27 and 25 points respectively. Kevon Looney had yet another impressive game with rebounds as he secured 23 for the fourth time in this postseason. For the Lakers, Davis starred with 30 points and 23 rebounds, while James put up 22 points. Schröder too had an impressive outing with 19 points to his name.
Speaking to reporters after the game Schröder spoke about what it was like to play against Stephen Curry. “Steph is probably the best conditioning-wise in sports because he’s running around for 23 seconds and still getting a shot. … I might have to get an IV tonight,” he joked lauding Curry’s fitness and skill on the court. On Schröder also spoke about his mentality and gameplay for the contest between the two Western Conference beasts.
Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach; Darvin Ham spoke about Dennis Schröder and the value he adds to the LA roster. Ham was in all praise for the young guard after the Lakers’ victory and explained why he’s so important. “That’s my guy. That’s why we wanted him on our team. We know how he plays, especially in big moments. … He’s not afraid of the moment, and he asks to have the ball in his hands and our guys trust him to have the ball in his hands,” he said.
How is the Lakers-Warriors series shaping up?

Every single NBA fan and critic has their eyes on the Lakers and Warriors’ playoff battle. Although this is the first time these two teams are playing each other since 1991, the rivalry between LeBron James and Stephen Curry has everyone drooling. After all, both of these players dominated the NBA for five consecutive years. During this time between 2014-2018, James won one title in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, while Curry picked up three (2015, 2017, and 2018).
Other than the two former MVPs locking horns, the Warriors and Lakers are both promising teams with the potential to hoist the title at the end of the season. Golden State is the defending champion looking for back-to-back titles. Los Angeles on the other hand has played exceptionally well since the mid-season break. Moreover, both teams have a brilliant mix of young-blooded talents and experienced veterans.
While Curry and James are the front-runners for their teams, the Warriors are stacked with players like Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Jordan Poole, and Kevon Looney. Los Angeles too has a formidable side with Anthony Davis, DeAngelo Russell, Austin Reave, and Dennis Schröder. It will be interesting to see how both teams come out for Game 2. While Golden State will look to level the series 1-1, LA will go for a 2-0 extension before heading home for Games 3 and 4.
