The NBA Play-In tournament finally kicked off today with the Atlanta Hawks playing the Miami Heat. The Heat was playing this crucial game at home at the Kaseya Center, Florida, and had their fans behind them. The game for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference saw some tough and competitive basketball with the visitors coming out on top. On the back of some stellar performances by Trae Young, Dejounte Murray, and Saddiq Bay, the Hawks clinched the seventh seed as the score stood 116-105 at the end of regulation.
However, going into the game, fans and experts picked the home team as their favorites. After all, the support and familiarity of the home crowd always give a side a morale boost. The Hawks, on the contrary, had plans to prove everyone wrong and it would be safe to assume that they have already started to relish this win. Just before the tipoff ESPN, with its panel of 17 experts, predicted the visitors losing in a one-sided 17-0 vote. After their prediction’s failure, Hawks guard Dejounte Murray took to Twitter to rub in their victory and taunt them.“JOKES ON YOU MFS!!!!” he tweeted in response to the prediction tweet.
Even Charles Barkley sided with the Heat during the pre-game show on NBA on TNT. “They (Miami) are gonna beat the Hawks,” he said, being absolutely sure of the result. Barkley even went on to bet a billion dollars on the result, as he was, evidently, not a huge admirer of the Hawks. “The hawks stink. Bet it whatever you want to. A billion dollars.” Needless to say, the Hawks players would’ve used these predictions and comments to drive them to emerge victorious and Dejounte Murray picked and called out each one of them.

What does the postseason look like for both Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks?
The Heat had its front-running players taking charge of the game quite beautifully. Jimmy Butler put up 21 points while Kyle Lowry led the side with a formidable 33-point show. However, the Heat fell short and failed to clinch the seventh seed. Although their postseason hasn’t quite started the way they’d have liked, it’s not all over for Miami.
The 2019-20 NBA runners-ups have another chance at keeping their title run going. The Heat will now have to take on the winner of the game between the Chicago Bulls and the Toronto Raptors for a fight to take the eighth seed. If they manage to do that, the Heat will then take on the mighty Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the playoffs.
The Hawks, on the other hand, don’t need to worry about a one-game eliminator. They walk into the first round of the playoffs, having taken the seventh seed. They will now face the Boston Celtics in a seven-game series for the first round of the playoffs. The Hawks will have to stay on top of their game as the Celtics would one hard drive side. Having missed out on the NBA championship against the Golden State Warriors last season, the Celtics would want to dominate and emerge as the eastern conference champions this year around as well.
