Dejounte Murray and Paolo Banchero are all over the NBA headlines as they took their rivalry off the court too. It all started with a disrespectful, high-IQ monstrous dunk at the Zeke-End Pro-Am tournament (hosted by Isaiah Thomas) at Tacoma Community College in Washington on Sunday. The Orlando Magic’s rook got his “welcome to the league” moment by the Hawks’ guard during the game and things were pretty spiced up and full of action since then. As Dejounte Murray and Paolo Banchero were and still are going against each other as they both felt disrespected and now have given fans some back and forth exchanges to enjoy.
Dejounte Murray schooled Paolo Banchero during their match-up. As he had him lost by a combo of his moves. It started with a pump fake than a fake pass and got finished with an alley-oop off the glass to himself. As Dejounte Murray flushed the ball down on Banchero’s head. But it didn’t just end there as the Hawks guard also taunted the rookie with the “too-small” gesture and launched the ball furiously at his chest. This is where the bridge between them was burnt and now they are going against each other via social media platforms.
Further, Dejounte Murray also clipped that particular viral moment and posted it on his personal Instagram handle and taking a shot at the #1 drafted rook this year wrote: “WELCOME TO THE BIG LEAGUES!!!!!! ?????????? ??????? Disrespectful They Said….. ??♂️ Yeahhhhh I KNOW!!!!!!!!” Paolo Banchero had to respond to it as it was getting too disrespectful for him and not calling things out would have been really bad and shady for him. So sharing the same clip on his IG story, the rook wrote: “Lol, unfollowed me on the gram and everything. Must be personal, huh? That’s fine, just make sure you guard up next time and stop sending doubles, family.” Paolo remained competitive and challenging for his rival as he isn’t afraid of none.

Dejounte Murray claps back at Paolo Banchero
It didn’t just end with one-one take each as Dejounte Murray responded to Banchero via his Instagram story and wrote: “You tried to flex that No. 1 pick sh-t on me when I’ve been rooting for you. When you was a kid, asking to rebound for me @paolo5 don’t get on this internet saying nothing…… You changed from the humble kid you always was and I stand on real sh-t boy and you know!!!!!!!! You made it and changed, and I lost all respect…Stay humble. This life you’re in now is no joke. I still wanna see you win ’cause that’s who I am.”
Dejounte Murray ended it being humble but things between them aren’t the same anymore and there is no doubt about it. As the hate, they are showing off for each other is very real. But as of now things are cold and down as Paolo Banchero has the last take where he has wrote (via his Instagram story): “same humble kid always vouched for you bro don’t switch tha narrative for tha internet…shoutout IT tho for a great event.”
Fans can’t wait for them to go against each other during an NBA game. As both the players, Hawks‘ Dejounte Murray and the #1 Drafted Paolo Banchero of Orlando Magic are great talents so watching them go head to head on the hardwood in the league will surely be interesting and worth watching. But there’s time for it to happen but another Pro-Am League match-up can be expected as the off-season continues.
