The Atlanta Hawks’ Dejounte Murray has every reason to be excited after the team’s recent performances. The star scored a career-high 44 points in the game against the Boston Celtics on Thursday. On the same day, the 27-year-old decided to make the day of a Hawks fan for a special performance.

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Celtics in overtime at home. During the timeout in the State Farm Arena, a Hawks fan made an unreal half-court shot to win $10,000. The fan also celebrated the shot in style as he signed an imaginary check. Dejounte Murray was impressed by the shot and decided to give another $10,000 to the fan. The star took to social media to ask for information about the fan to send him the money.

Murray was certainly thrilled by his own and the team’s performance against the Celtics. The star scored Hawks’ all eleven points in the overtime. Beating the best team in the league twice while missing the star player is certainly an achievement. Hence, it was natural that the athlete was in a celebratory mood and wanted to make the fan’s day.

The Hawks won their fourth straight game with the win over the Celtics. Murray is having an amazing month as Trae Young is absent due to hand injury. The guard now has three 40-point games in March alone. If the player manages to keep playing on the same level, the team’s future in the season will turn around as they are the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference.

Dejounte Murray took 44 shots to reach his career high

The player scored 44 points by shooting 44 shots against Boston. The guard broke a unique record with this performance. The career-high points recorded are the fewest in at least that many shots since Kobe Bryant in 2002, who had scored 41 points from 47 shots.

In the post-game interview, Murray was honest and admitted not being fully satisfied with his performance. The star was only 40.9% from the field. However, the guard decided to focus on the positive side, a win against the best team in the conference and a shadow of Bryant in his performance.

I still feel like I played awful. I don’t wanna take that many shots, but I know Kobe would be proud of me. But at the end of the day, we competed at a high level, til the end, and we got a great team win.

The Hawks are turning up without Young at the perfect time. Despite being the last seed in the play-in category, the team is only one win away from taking over the 9th position. With Young returning soon from injury, the team has enough time to play better and move in the standings to compete in the playoffs.
