DeMar DeRozan, Bulls reach all-time playoff low which could disappoint Michael Jordan
DeMar DeRozan and Michael Jordan
With Khris Middleton out of Game 3 courtesy to an MCL sprain, DeMar DeRozan and Chicago Bulls had the best chance to take the lead in the first-round series against the Milwaukee bucks in their own backyard. However, Giannis Antetokounmpo and ‘villain’ Grayson Allen came in to hand-over the biggest, ugliest and nastiest defeat in the playoffs ever.
Firstly, to get everyone on the same page, the Chicago Bulls are one of the oldest teams in the NBA who have stuck around since the 1966-67 season. Having appeared in 36 postseasons, this team has never suffered a defeat by the hefty margin of 30-points. Until Bucks dismantled them in Game 3 111-81, to take the lead in the first-round series 2-1. With no player rising to the occasion, fans were disappointed in witnessing DeMar DeRozan struggle big time on the offensive board.
DeMar DeRozan, Bulls drop Game 3 against Middleton less Bucks
Bulls did not have their young star Lonzo Ball in action, which clearly saw no other player taking the responsibility to run the show and play. While DeMar DeRozan had only 11 points registered against his name, on a 4-of-9 shooting spree, there was no other player apart from Bucks’ Grayson Allen who scored 20 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo himself managed to score only 18 points.
However, the Bulls have suffered their worst playoff defeat in 56 years, which could surely disappoint legends like Michael Jordan among others. Being the same franchise, which tormented each and every team in the conference to flopping against the defending champions in such demeaning manner, surely it is the modern-day NBA unfolding its wrath on DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine’s Bulls.
That being said, Game 4 will have a lot of cous now as the home team will be itching to make their way back in the series. Given that a loss could push them to the edge of the exit door, a loss in Game 4, would build pressure than anything else as the proceedings would move to Milwaukee in Game 5. Will we see the rise of the underdogs? Or are the defending champions going to stamp their authority? Remains to be seen.
