The 2023 FIBA World Cup has been an amazing display of basketball prowess, and Germany’s recent clash with Australia was no exception. Despite a close call, Germany clinched an 85-82 victory, largely attributed to the outstanding performance of NBA star, Dennis Schroder.

Germany’s impressive win was made even more remarkable given the absence of their other leader, Franz Wagner, who sat out due to an ankle injury. The team showcased their strength by starting the fourth quarter with a commanding 10-0 run. Maodo Lo further cemented the team’s dominant performance, contributing an additional 20 points for Germany.

The Toronto Raptors have strategically positioned themselves for the upcoming NBA season by acquiring veteran point guard Dennis Schroder. The 29-year-old German player recently signed a two-year, $26 million deal with the Raptors, signalling a fresh start after spending a year with the Los Angeles Lakers

Last season, Schroder, known for his agility and great sense of the game, appeared in 66 games, starting in 50. He averaged 12.6 points and 4.5 assists in 30.1 minutes, playing a crucial role in taking the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals, where they eventually lost to the Denver Nuggets.

Having entered the NBA in 2013 as a first-round pick by the Atlanta Hawks, Schroder’s journey in the league has worn various jerseys. The acquisition of Schroder by the Raptors can be viewed as a strategic move, especially after the departure of their star player, Fred VanVleet, who recently signed with the Rockets.
