Memphis Grizzlies’ recent acquisition, Derrick Rose, took his time at a Drake concert to a whole new level. In a light-hearted moment shared by his wife Alaina on social media, Rose could be seen deeply engaged in a game of chess on his phone, seemingly undisturbed by the busy energy of Drake’s “It’s All a Blur” tour stop in Glendale.

While others might have been enjoying the beats of Drake’s chart-toppers, Rose was seen placing his next move on the virtual chessboard. The caption, along with the video, was, “When I make my husband come outside,” followed by crying face emojis, which added a touch of humor to the unexpected moment.

As the Memphis Grizzlies embrace a fresh start with the addition of seasoned players like Derrick Rose and Marcus Smart, there are high expectations surrounding the leadership dynamics that are beginning to take shape within the team. Notably, the chemistry between Rose and the star point guard, Ja Morant, is generating significant interest.

Danny Green, a two-time NBA champion and a former player of the Grizzlies, recently shared his insights on this evolving dynamic on the “No Chill with Gilbert Arenas” podcast.

“I’m interested to see how Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose is gonna be for them,” Green said. “… I think Derrick is the veteran you need. He’s smart, but he’s more passive, a little bit quieter. I see him as like a [Tim Duncan]… People think Timmy was quiet, but he actually talked and spoke, and I think Derrick is one of those guys.”

He noted, “It’s hard to have somebody come in and say, Your project is to work on this guy.” However, Green anticipates that Rose’s status and respect within the team will indeed make the way for a successful partnership with Morant, potentially creating a promising era for the Memphis Grizzlies.

With the season approaching, the focus now shifts to the court; fans and critics are eager to see how the new leadership dynamics are set to play out.
