LeBron James, while known for his Basketball prowess on the court, has some philanthropic contributions done to the community too. One such contribution is the “I Promise” school, situated in Akron, Ohio, which is also where LeBron grew up. The goal of the school is to pull up the students who are lagging in their education and are at a “risk of falling through the cracks.”
Through a shocking report, it has been found out that the 2018 opened school has failed to make a difference where it promised to. No 8th grader from the school in the past 3 years has passed a state maths exam. As per the same report, the last time the students passes the state’s math test was when they were in the third grade. The result, for fans and the officials of the school alike, is “discouraging”.
Keith Liechty-Clifford, the district’s director of school improvement said about the results, “it is discouraging.” Although many people consider the school to be a public one, it operated in tandem with the LeBron James Family Foundation and receives the same funding as any other public school at the local, state, and federal levels.
NBA Twitter reacts to the shocking results at LeBron James’ school

After the report was out, NBA Twitter passed some hilarious comments on the workings of the school and its association with LeBron while some talked more realistically, absolving LeBron of all the allegations.
The school’s board president, Derrick Hall, too expressed his disappointment in this regard “”For me as a board member, I just think about all the resources that we’re providing…And I just, I’m just disappointed that I don’t think, it doesn’t appear like we’re seeing the kind of change that we would expect to see.” Whether or not the school will be able to come back on track is a question unanswered. LeBron is all set to play his 19th season and does not have plans to retire anytime soon. One thing that he should have plans about is improving the school’s results.
