The Detroit Pistons already hold the infamous record for most consecutive losses in a season. They are on pace to accumulate some more infamous records in the history of North American sports.

The Detroit Pistons have lost 28 straight games. They broke the record for most consecutive losses in a season against the Brooklyn Nets last time around. This time against the formidable Boston Celtics, they lost the game in overtime, despite having a commanding lead at halftime. This loss tied the Pistons with the Philadelphia 76ers for the most consecutive losses ever by an NBA franchise. But there is one more infamous North American sports record that has fans dreading.

The most consecutive losses by a sports franchise in the history of North American sports is 29 games. This record was set by the 1942-1945 NFL team, the Chicago Cardinals. This record is across all of the major sports leagues in North America, namely the NBA, the NFL, the NHL, and the MLB. If the record belongs to a World War-era team, it is fine. Most people didn’t even know such a record existed.

But in this day of social media, having your name etched as possibly the worst team in sporting history, will not sit right. Particularly for Pistons fans. They were buoyed at the start of the season when the team stood with a 2-1 record. The outlook of the young team looked good. Little did anyone anticipate that things would turn this ugly.

Fans are holding their breath to see how things unfold for the Detroit Pistons

Basketball fans are dreading the thought of an NBA team having its name etched in sporting infamy. Such is the condition of the Detroit Pistons. The young Pistons did come out fighting from the gate tonight. But the league’s best team turned out to be too much for them at the end.

Hopefully, the fight the Pistons put up in the first half gives them the impetus to win their next game. They will be at home, facing the not-so-formidable Toronto Raptors. They do have hope.
