If you have ever been to South Dakota or are a big fan of historical sculptures, you must have heard about Mount Rushmore. Well, ardent NBA fans would also have definitely heard about the “Mount Rushmore of Basketball”.

Similar to the historical site; just tweaked a little by adding some of the icons of the game of basketball. And it’s part of the culture to ask NBA players who would they want or add to the pedestal of honors. Kevin Durant was recently asked the same question.

During a Q&A session with Bradley Beal and Devin Booker, Kevin Durant was asked the following question:

Who is on your Mount Rushmore of basketball?"

Durant named his list, and had the following response:

Michael Jordan, LeBron, Kobe Bryant.

But it seemed he had forgotten himself, and after a long pause, Devin Booker reminded his veteran teammate. He uttered Durant’s name, as Bradley Beal seemingly agreed and claimed, “I like that. I like that.”

It’s an exceptional list; given it is coming from a player who has already tasted glory and knows how winning feels. 2 back to back champions with a legendary Golden State Warriors team, KD himself has etched his name in the history books.

While some may still argue his injuries have dragged his career backward, there is no denying he is one of the best of the generation. Hence, for Booker to put his name amongst the “Mount Rushmore of NBA” was seemingly a no-brainer.

Kevin Durant’s impact on this generation has been nothing but inspiring. While it may be long before we see him lift another championship, Durant’s career has had its fair share of highs.

Booker highlights Durant’s value as a teammate

Not long ago in a thrilling victory for the Phoenix Suns against the Houston Rockets, there was one player who stood out not only for his exemplary performance but also for his sportsmanship in the game.

Those words were from his teammate Devin Booker, who described Durant using the word “Unbelievable” after a stellar performance against the Houston Rockets.

In the match, Kevin Durant posted a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 16 assists as the Suns cruised to a win that Devin Booker later described as a “Great bounce back game after all the noise.”

But it was KD who stole the show. Since his move to the Suns, Durant has shown a clear revival after a series of injuries and being out of form. And this 2023 season has been a blessing in disguise.

With an average of 29.9 points per game, 6.0 assists per game, and a field goal percentage of 52.5%, placing him 27th in the league, there is no denying his impact has already been felt massively in this new Phoenix Suns team. And while the conversations and debate may continue on his longevity and status as an icon, there is only one motive in his and the team’s mind – to win the elusive NBA champions trophy.
