The blockbuster series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies has come to an end. The Lakers managed to defend their home court in Game 6 to win the series 4-2. In the most phenomenal display of team play, Los Angeles blew out the Grizzlies with a massive 40 points victory. While D’Angelo Russell was the top scorer for LA with 31 points, LeBron James and Anthony Davis put their lethality on display and combined for 38 points. For Memphis, Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks combined for 20 points. The score at the end of regulation was a commanding 85-125 in favor of the men in purple and gold.
In what could be considered as an embarrassing blowout, the Grizzlies have now been eliminated from the 2023 NBA playoffs. Brooks, who is one of the most talked about players in this series, has declined to speak to the press. Unsurprisingly, after his poor performance in yet another crucial playoff game, the Grizzlies forward had no intentions of making a media appearance. In fact, Brooks was reported to have left the team locker room before the media reporters could arrive for a chat.
Dillon Brooks first made the headlines in this series after his altercations with LeBron James in Game 2. However, his name kept on coming to the surface for reasons both on and off the court. After his initial scuffle, Brooks made a statement to reporters calling the 38-year-old Lakers veteran forward ‘old.’ In the games to follow, Brooks was ejected with a flagrant two for hitting James in the groin. The series thereafter only grew harsher and harsher for the 28-year-old Grizzlies forward.

How are fans reacting to Dillon Brooks dodging reporters?
As expected, fans on Twitter have been celebrating success after Los Angeles Lakers won game 6. However, while fans laud their team’s achievement, many are also trolling Dillon Brooks mercilessly for his comments early on during the series. Although the Lakers won by a significant margin, the 40 points difference is the reason behind Brook’s trolling on social media. In the same interview where he called LeBron James ‘old,’ Brooks mentioned that he doesn’t respect a player until and unless they score 40 points. Now that the Lakers have won by a margin of that exact number, fans cannot stop talking about it.
The Los Angeles Lakers have now advanced to the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Their opponents now depend on the winner of Game 7 between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. The Lakers will know that the semi-finals will not be an easy contest. Regardless of who wins, they will either face the mighty defending champions or the most impressive offensive team in the 2022-23 NBA season.
As for Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies, they will now head into the off-season after their elimination. Brooks would look to take some time off the game after a rough series. The Grizzlies organization, on the other hand, will look to regroup and come back stronger for the next season.
