Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies are being aggressively mocked and criticized by the basketball world. They were unable to put in any solid effort after all of their trash-talking, as the LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers advanced against them, winning the series 4-2 with a blowout Game 6 win. Brooks and Morant hurled several vocal jabs toward the Lakers. This didn’t sit well with LeBron James, so he went ahead to put them in their place and finished the job.
Dillon Brooks now has a first-round exit and has learned a thing or two. Like he should not poke bears anymore and call out LeBron James unnecessarily. Also, Brooks now has a failed villain arc and is getting clowned for his comments throughout the season. The story is very similar for Ja Morant as the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers proved that he and the second-seeded Memphis Grizzlies are not “good” in the west.
Game 6 at Crypto.com Arena was supposed to be very competitive and head-to-head. But nothing like that ever transpired. The Lakers took over control of the game since the initial minutes. And after building a commanding lead in the first half, they outscored the Grizzlies by 41-25 in the third quarter. And, just through three quarters, the Lakers were leading by 33 points against the Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant-led Memphis Grizzlies.
The fourth quarter was nothing but just some garbage time as the men in purple and gold held an insurmountable lead. They ended up blowing the Grizzlies by 40 points, with the final score being 125-85. James and Co. will now be entering the semifinals all guns blazing while Dillon Brooks, Ja Morant, and the Grizzlies team pack their bags.
D’Angelo Russell gets the most credit for the win, dropping 31 points, four assists, and two rebounds. He was backed by LeBron James‘ contribution of 22 points and a solid defensive performance from Anthony Davis, who scored 16 points, hurled in 14 boards, and blocked five shots.
The Grizzlies, though, just disappeared after the Lakers takeover and were never able to come back or cut the lead. Dillon Brooks and Ja Morant were limited to 10 points each. None of Brooks’ words have aged well for him, and the internet is now showing no mercy.
