At first, Filipino fans didn’t really like him because of their loyal support for the Los Angeles Lakers. But Brooks didn’t let the booing get to him; instead, he joined in with the crowd, showing he wasn’t bothered by the noise.

But something magical happened as the game went on. Brooks started scoring big, hitting one three-pointer after another against the USA. By the time he scored his sixth, the crowd couldn’t help but cheer for him, even starting to chant, “MVP! MVP!” Brooks not only won over the crowd but set a new record, scoring 39 points, the most in a FIBA World Cup medal-winning game.

This was a big moment for Brooks and Canada – their first medal in the tournament. After the game, Brooks was thrilled and went as far as to compare himself to Kobe Bryant, saying he has created a bad guy character on the court just like Kobe did with his ‘Black Mamba’ persona. Brooks said, “It’s just a persona. People love it… It’s like Kobe Bryant, how he had to figure it out and create a Black Mamba… I guess that’s my persona. The villain.”

NBA fans react to Brooks’ explosive performance and Kobe Bryant comparison

After the game, social media was buzzing about Brooks’ incredible performance and his comparison to Kobe Bryant. Not everyone was happy with the comparison, though.

One fan tweeted, slamming both Team USA and Brooks in a tweet that said, “F**k Team USA for giving this BOZO ammunition.” This tweet shows that some people didn’t like Brooks comparing himself to the legendary Kobe Bryant.
