Undoubtedly, the most well-known basketball player worldwide is Michael Jordan. A brand that completely changed the sneaker industry is Jordan. The film ‘He’s Gotta Have It,’ released in 1986, marked Spike Lee’s directorial debut. As a Brooklyn native who adored sports, the Knicks, and Air Jordans, Lee portrayed Mars Blackmon in the film.

Spike Lee also had the opportunity to collaborate with Jordan on Nike commercials. Spike was never sure why he was allowed to direct those commercials. He was still a young director at the time. Thus, His Airness reacted, especially when he eventually asked Michael Jordan why he was chosen.

Spike Lee spoke when Michael Jordan called him “motherf**ker”. This is what Lee said:

I never asked, or I was scared to ask Michael why he chose me. So at All-Star weekend in Toronto, where it was like 50 below, I finally asked Mike, 'Why’d you choose me to direct those commercials?.' He said Spike! "motherf**ker you wear my shoes! I’m telling you, it’s an honor when Michael Jordan calls you a motherf**ker!

The historic decision to collaborate with Nike to create the “Air Jordan” line of sneakers came next. Lee’s featured commercials virtually reinvented footwear commercials and became a timeless classic. It not only established the Jordan brand as a household name but also had a cultural impact on the advertising industry.

The Chicago Bulls Ring of Honour welcomed Michael Jordan

When you thought Michael Jordan had accomplished everything, he added one more accolade to his record when he was named one of eight players to the Chicago Bulls’ inaugural Ring of Honour. Many of Jordan’s teammates, including Toni Kukoč, Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Artis Gilmore, Jerry Sloan, Bob Love, and Chet Walker, were included in the long overdue class.

Playing for the Chicago Bulls, Jordan emulated his UNC days’ clutch shooting success and became a superstar. The team announced on Tuesday that the 2024 class, which consists of 13 individuals and one team, will be honored on January 12 when the Golden State Warriors visit the area. This marks the establishment of the organization’s new Ring of Honour.

Coach Steve Kerr of the Warriors was a 1995–96 squad member who set an NBA record with 72 games won and the team’s fourth championship. All team members, including coaches and front office staff, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
