The Philadelphia 76ers have kicked off their playoff run pretty well this year. Now up 3-0 against the Brooklyn Nets, the Sixers have asserted their authority in the East. Having only reached the second round for the past few postseasons, the Sixers have a great chance to finish strong this year. Facing the Nets, who lost their star power, the 76ers can take a breather before the next series.

Just as the fans and players would be in much relief, head coach Doc Rivers doesn’t feel the same. The Sixers managed to win Game 3 at Brooklyn. It was a pretty close game, with Philly edging out by 5 points and the final score being 102-97. However, the Nets will try their best to avoid a sweep in the first round. Last year the Celtics swept the series against Kevin Durant’s Nets, and the team would definitely do their all to avoid it.

Following the Game 3 victory, coach Rivers had a bold statement for the team as well as the fans. In the post-game interview, Doc wanted to set a winning mentality for his team. Though up 3-0, he didn’t want any distractions.

Doc Rivers and his mentality will get Sixers to new heights

“You’ve got to take care of your business. Don’t play with your meat.”, said Doc. It was a much-needed statement for the players, as the series is not over yet. This is definitely what even professional players would expect from their coaches.

Having a tough and humble mentality set for players while winning is what makes Doc Rivers one of the greatest coaches in the league. Though their wins have been huge the Sixers shouldn’t underestimate the Nets ahead of Game 4 as they will give their all to avoid a sweep.

With this approach, the Sixers will definitely achieve great feats ahead. Looking at their collective effort as well, they seem to be a pretty solid team, and we might as well see them in the East Finals. How far do you think the Sixers will go in this postseason? Let us know in the comments.
